We all know the verse - "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105. But take a look at some of the verses that come before - "I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws. I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments. . . . They give me understanding." Psalm 119:99, 100, 104
Some people just want to be smarter than a 5th grader, but you can be smarter than everyone, by studying the Bible, learning Scripture verses, and applying them to your life. God has shown us the path to wisdom, and in grades 6-8, we will follow His methods.
Our theme this year is Science. Our walls proudly declare - You're made of atoms, You take up space, You have mass, You matter, God matters, Science matters, and School matters. Our math, language arts, science and social studies curriculum will be rigorous, but we will not forget to experiment with art and music, learn sports and fitness in physical education, and study personal finance. We will engage in Random Acts of Kindness and visits to the Retirement Home. We will mentor our buddies and model leadership. Field trips will include Outdoor School, a play (The Diary of Anne Frank), Finance Park, Music Festival, sledding in the snow, Pioneer Farm, and others.
Your attitude makes a difference. Please come prepared every day to learn. Get plenty of rest and eat wholesome food. Learn to focus on the task at hand and participate in class discussions. Spend lots of time reading as well as writing. Always do your best and try to encourage others. Never forget that Jesus wants to be your best friend, and He is a friend that will never disappoint. Spend time with Him every day.
